A new study has been published that links active cities to better communities. What is an active city? An active city depends on how active its citizens are. This in depth study shows why being an active city is so important not only to the overall health of citizens (we all know that being active leads to a healthier lifestyle), but also has an economic impact. It shows that when people move more, crime, pollution and traffic go down. “Productivity, school performance, property values, health and well being drastically improve” (pg 3).
Don’t ask yourself if you can afford to be an active city. You should be asking how can you afford not to be an active city. Take a look at the study, and see what has worked for other communities. Happy, healthy citizens can lead to a happy, healthy community.
