Technical and supervisory responsibility for providing overall administration of the City’s aquatic facilities and programs which includes Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center, Electric City Waterpark and neighborhood pools.   Work is performed under the general direction of the Recreation Manager.

Essential Functions of Work
Collaborates with Park & Recreation staff to ensure all aquatic facilities and amenities are compliant with federal and state operational standards.
Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, quality services, and innovation. 
Provides applicable training to employees utilizing safe work practices and working conditions.
Provides supervision, support, guidance and skill evaluation to aquatics staff to ensure all facilities are properly staffed.
Ensures aquatics facility meets industry standards to include daily chemical testing, equipment filtration checks, daily logs and other requirements to meet code.
Collaborates with pool specialist on chemical purchasing.
In conjunction with HR and Recreation Manager, hires and evaluates performance of staff. 
Promotes and schedules aquatic facility rentals such as swim meets, military trainings, etc. Collaborates with external organizations to provide on-site training for staff.
Plans programming and special events to promote and attract new users and memberships, meeting the evolving needs of the community through innovative program offerings.
Works with Recreation Manager on full facility rentals that include aquatic and recreation portion of facility. 
Collects and prepares data for monthly and annual reporting.
Performs all other duties as assigned and required.

Education and Experience
Education, training or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Park and Tourism or a related field is preferred.
Two years of experience in aquatic programs, including supervisory experience.

Requirements of Work
Substantial knowledge of the principles and practices of aquatic program administration. 
Extensive knowledge of the use and application of water rescue methods, lifesaving and first aid practices and techniques.
Ability to supervise, assign, train, and direct the work of other employees.   
Ability to effectively manage conflict and crisis seeking to resolve complaints and conflicts in a professional and calm manner. 
Proficiency in interpreting, applying, and explaining laws, codes, ordinances & rules. 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the general public.
